HPC Center Obtains Funding Within the Project of the National Research Program “Mitigation of the Consequences of the Crisis Caused by COVID19

The project in the field of healthcare and social health “COVID-19 Related Biobank and Integrated Platform for Research Data in Latvia” will be implemented by Latvian Biomedical Research and Study Center in cooperation with Riga Stradiņš University, Riga Technical University and the University of Latvia. Riga Technical University will be represented by its HPC Center and FCSIT (Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology).

The total budget of the project is 497,580 Euro.

As mentioned on the web-site of the Ministry of Education and Science, in the framework of the national research program “Mitigation of the Consequences of the Crisis Caused by COVID-19”, 10 projects will have been implemented by the end of 2020. They will ensure fulfilment of all tasks of the program in three related fields – Healthcare and Social Health (5 projects), Engineering Solutions (3 projects), Economic and Social Welfare (2 projects).

The main goal of the national research program “Mitigation of the Consequences of the Crisis Caused by COVID-19” is to limit the spread of the infectious disease and to protect the population, so as to quickly restore economic activities and active social daily life by implementing innovative high-readiness research projects.
